    Updated! Harman radios are being examined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in the wake of the Fiat Chrysler recall last week. Harman supplied the radios in 1.4 million Fiat Chrysler vehicles that were recalled for being vulnerable to attack by hackers. When a driver used the Internet connection on the Harman radios, hackers could gain remote control of the engine, steering and other systems. Fiat Chrysler has since developed a software fix for the problem.

    Ich glaube, der Kauf von HERE ist eine kluge Investition für Audi, BMW und Daimler. Es zeigt, dass sie über die Zukunft der Branche nachdenken und es bringt sie in eine bessere Position, technologische Fortschritte zu kapitalisieren. Außerdem ist es eine Chance, den kollektiven Marktanteil des Unternehmens zu nutzen, um die HERE-Software als Industriestandard zu etablieren........

    ..In the recently reported second quarter, HERE revenues rose 25% year over year while Nokia as a whole lifted sales by only 9%. As self-driving cars start to emerge into the mainstream and the Internet of Things presents another high-growth market for strong mapping data, it may seem strange that Nokia would unload this profitable and strongly growing division right now.

    As for Nokia HERE's future, I'm sure we'll see a mixture of continued growth and infighting between the three joint owners........

    Strategy Analytics’ Lanctot said, “Google maps aren’t suitable to automotive applications. They won’t work where you don’t have a connection, and carmakers don’t trust Google with integration with vehicle data. Even Tesla has an embedded map.”

    Juliussen said, “The consortium will want to have as much revenue from HERE as possible to pay for the investment in updating the self-driving car maps. Hence they will behave in a way that allows other auto OEMs to remain as customer.” Further, he added, “If there is a shift to another mapping company, it is more likely to go to TomTom [the Netherland-based digital map company] than Google.”

    ....The bidding for HERE highlights the importance of the map asset and only a few companies besides the German automakers that have this asset. Google and Apple are the most well-known ones. TomTom is another and let us not forget that Alibaba acquired AutoNavi, formerly listed in the US and considered China's largest map content provider. Baidu is also competitive but keep in mind that it does not own the content but source it from NavInfo, of which Tencent holds a strategic stake.....

    Ford arbeitet an einer Weiterentwicklung seiner adaptiven Scheinwerfer-Technik , die Autofahrern das Erkennen von Fußgängern, Radfahrern und Tieren im Dunkeln erleichtern soll. Dabei nutzt der Autobauer GPS-Informationen sowie ein Kamera-System.

    Das Camera-Based Advanced Front Lighting System wird am European Research and Innovation Centre von Ford in Aachen entwickelt. Anhand von GPS-Daten des Navigationssystems erkennt die neue Technik vorausliegenden Kreuzungen oder Kreisverkehre und verbreitert automatisch den Lichtkegel. Besteht kein GPS-Signal, wird die im Rückspiegel des Fahrzeugs verbaute Kamera verwendet, die Markierungen auf der Straße erkennt und so den Straßenverlauf einschätzt. Die neue Technik will Ford in Kürze in die ersten Fahrzeug integrieren.

    TomTom: Wissen, wo es lang geht!

    ...Charttechnisch steht die Aktie kurz vor dem Ausbruch aus der Formation eines aufsteigenden Dreiecks. Abgeschlossen wäre der Ausbruch bei Schlusskursen über 10,60 Euro.

    Gelingt der Ausbruch wartet das nächste massive Hindernis erst wieder bei 13,65 Euro. Kommt es tatsächlich zu einem Übernahmeversuch, wäre aber auch dieses Hindernis nicht unüberwindbar.

    Wir kaufen TomTom auch ins Musterdepot!.....
